Our Mission

To advance scientific knowledge towards excellence in research and to educate students in science and technology, as well as other areas of scholarship, particularly in the area of human aging and brain disorders. The Hegde lab is committed and dedicated to excelling in the excitement of discovery by working passionately, wisely, creatively, and effectively, and by exuding core values of integrity, collaboration, student-centeredness, community, diversity, and innovation.

Welcome to the Hegde Lab!

We’re the DNA Repair Division within the Center for Neuroregeneration in the Department of Neurosurgery at Houston Methodist Hospital. Our focus is on delineating the molecular insights into the role of genome damage/repair responses in human brain disorders and on developing novel, mechanism-based treatment strategies for neurorestoration/regeneration. The lab specializes in utilizing state-of-the art molecular biology/CRISPR/Cas9 mediated gene editing technologies, human induced pluripotent cell derived neuronal models, and relevant mice models.
